Something of a cult hero, Zarhron will be going for a fifth win in the Cowra Japan Cup when he steps onto the track this weekend.
Now 10 years old, the Andrew Molloy-trained star has only lost one of the five Japan Cup (1200m) features he's contested.
"He's a regular fixture," Cowra Jockey Club president Peter Ford said ahead of Sunday's meeting which kicks off with the running of the Dr Geoffrey Sprigge Memorial at 1.10pm.
Zarhron missed out on the win last year, running sixth, but won the previous four Cowra Japan Cups.
Molloy's hope goes into Sunday's $28,000 event second up after a last start sixth at Wagga Wagga in a strong Benchmark 83.
The Cowra Japan Cup is one of the two main events on Sunday, the other being the $32,000 Cowra Cup over 1700m.
In that feature, Mudgee galloper Mackellar's Love will be looking to go one better than last year.
The Cheryl Crockett-trained mare finished second behind local hope Welcome Art in last year's edition of Cowra's premier racing event.
Sparingly raced, Mackellar's Love has been unplaced in her past two outings, both at Hawkesbury.
Richard Bensley will be in the saddle for Sunday's assignment.
The day's biggest prize could well be heading to Dubbo that night as Darren Hyde's Mr Epic goes into the race as one of the leading contenders.
Having only linked with Hyde's stables late last year, Mr Epic has caught the eye in his four starts for the Dubbo trainer.
He scored a breakthrough win at Narromine two starts back before running second in a Benchmark 75 over 1400 metres at Bathurst last time out.
Regular rider Andrew Banks takes the ride and the seven year-old handles both soft and fast going so the predicted Sunday rain won't bother.
Top weight Rinviata, a winner two starts back at Gosford and trained by Matt Dale in Canberra should also be respected.
Sunday's bumper meeting starts at 1.10pm.
