The 2017-18 Bathurst District Cricket Association premiers have not had the impact they would have liked since the revival of the BOIDC, with a round two victory over CYMS its only joy thus far.
But Rugby began 2020 in impressive fashion, dismissing hosts Kinross for just 132 in the space of 61.2 overs last Saturday as they commenced their round six two-day battle at Kinross Main Oval.
Before stumps Rugby knocked off 73 runs in the chase and still has seven wickets in hand to reel in the rest should the rain predicted on Saturday stay away.
Rugby skipper Imran Qureshi is hoping that Brad Glasson, currently unbeaten on 42, will get the chance to pick up where he left off.
"Brad's an unbelievable player and it would be good if he can bat for another 20 or so overs," he said.
"I think we might be very lucky to get on with the rain, but at the moment anyone would take the rain over a cricket victory with the drought and the fires. There's more to life than cricket."
Should play go ahead, Rugby's decision to send Kinross in to bat after winning the toss on day one could prove to be a masterstroke.
"The weather did kind of play a role in the decision in the sense that we thought there'd be some rain," Qureshi said.
