Newey's Drive Thru Cleaners announced starting this week, customers would be able to drop off their items and pick them up on Saturdays, but cleaning would not occur.
Owner John Colgan said the decision was not a difficult one and the business wanted to do its bit after Orange's water storage dropped below 23 per cent.
"We wanted to see what we could do to cut down," he said.
"The ideal thing is you want to be able to do full loads and because Saturday is not as busy, it's a day we're not doing full loads."
Mr Colgan said Orange City Council staff inspected the business about two weeks ago and found no leaks.
"We've done a lot of work on leaks for the last two years because we didn't want to waste money on water," he said.
"It was a matter of us coming back to them with ideas."
Mr Colgan said a smart meter would soon be installed, which would monitor the business's water usage but the business already recycled water and its washing machines were more economical than domestic machines.
He said he was also making inquiries into detergents to determine whether they could be rinsed out using less water.
Orange City Council contacted the top 50 non-residential water users this week and conduct similar checks for leaks and help them find alternate sources of water if necessary.
The task is intended to delay onerous level six restrictions, which are due on May 1.
Orange currently remains on level five.
