The 27-year-old man went missing while swimming with another Nepalese man in the early afternoon. The pair had visited the lake in the previous two days where they had swum near the pontoon.
The man who died had travelled to Orange to work as a fruit picker.
His cause of death was still being investigated by the coroner.
Following the rescue operation, which involved officers from the Central West Police District, NSW Ambulance paramedics and the State Emergency Services, the man's family travelled from Sydney where it is believed he was living to identify his body.
The Nepalese consulate has since been informed.
