Jill Trotter said she was also there when Elton was on his first tour of Australia, way back in 1971.
Ms Trotter, who is staying with family in Orange after escaping the south coast bushfires that came close to where she lives at Culburra Beach, said she doesn't remember a lot of the October show at Randwick Stadium, at Randwick Racecourse.
"I think I was 14 or 15 at the time," she said.
"I think it was about $10."
Ms Trotter said her favourite song was Your Song, which is one of a few songs Elton played at the 1971 concert that is still being played on his farewell tour.
"When he wrote Your Song it changed my life," she said.
She said her favourite Elton John album was Madman Across The Water, which was released in 1971 and is best known for the song Tiny Dancer, another song Elton played on the 1971 tour and on this farewell tour.
Ms Trotter said she also saw the Rolling Stones rehearse at Randwick Racecourse around the same time as the Elton John tour after "sneaking in."
However, her trip to see the farewell concert in Bathurst has been far more dramatic than she had planned.
She said she decided to evacuate the South Coast as fires threatened the area.
"My daughter was worried about me being there," she said.
"We do have friends on the South Coast who have lost stock and have lost their properties.
"My house is safe, Culburra Beach seems to have been spared."
However, her luck took a turn when she came to Orange to stay with family.
Ms Trotter said they were walking near Mount Canobolas on Christmas morning when she fell and broke her shoulder. "I fell over a log," she said.
"Your hospital here has been brilliant."
Elton John will perform his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour concert at Bathurst's Carrington Park next Wednesday, January 22.
Orange will gets its taste of major music when it hosts A Day on the Green featuring Cold Chisel at Heifer Station Winery on Saturday February 1.
