Barry, who last played for the yellow and black in the 2018 premiership before moving to Melbourne for 2019, has returned to Orange for 2020 and was confirmed as first grade coach at the Tigers' committee meeting on Monday night.
The former spearhead won't be donning the boots in 2020.
Barry captained the Tigers to three first grade flags from 2013-2015, while also playing in the 2018 premiership while in the club's leadership group.
He kicked 71 goals in 2018.
Tigers president Andrew Nelson said it was fantastic to see Barry back at the club.
"Its great to be able to appoint someone of Tims character and experience to the role," he said.
"We are fortunate that he has relocated back to Orange and committed to the role.
"His football knowledge is up there with the best on offer and his philosophys around development will continuing to build on the great work started by Dale Hunter and the club over recent past."
The club has also confirmed several other coaching appointments for 2020, with Damien Caughlan and Nathan Totten continuing with under 12s, Matt Shephard coaching under 14s and Emma Clark and Mark Gibson coaching the youth girls.
Coaching positions for under 17s, the women's side and the second tier men's side are still vacant, with the club hoping to fill them in the coming weeks.
The club began preseason training last week.
