Accounting director James Carey recently moved his family to start the office in a strategic move for the business.
"We thought opening a second office somewhere region would be really nice and Orange is a lovely town," he said.
Mr Carey is looking for office premises in the CBD and recruiting accountants to focus on small and medium enterprise business advisory, tax, restructuring and self-managed super funds.
"We were the Xero 2019 NSW/ACT regional accounting partner of the year - it says we're quite modern and progressive," Mr Carey said.
Best of the best
ONE of the region's lenders has been named among the top services for this year for its savings accounts.
First Choice Credit Union, which started in 1970 for staff in the Orange, Canobolas, Boree and Molong shires, was named gold winner in Money Magazine's Best of the Best 2020 in the Best Savings Account at a non-bank category.
General manager Paul Dawson accepted the award at a gala ceremony in Sydney after a selection process evaluating almost 150 financial institutions.
Songs for hire
WHEN a request was posted on social media from a person in Orange wanting to hire a singer to perform Happy Birthday for a friend, a business idea was born.
Bridget Flakelar, Allie Burgess and Hannah Wisse have started Grand Gestures, which can provide anything from a live birthday song to a flash mob wedding proposal.
Miss Burgess said it was a great gift for those who might already have everything.
"People react to music and it means being able to put into words how they feel even if they don't have words," she said.
Career change
SHE'S been a well-known florist and photographer, but Megan Woods has decided to give up the weekend work to teach guitar full-time during the week and spend more time with family.
Mrs Woods has been teaching at Orange Public School and St Mary's Catholic Primary School and will add Nashdale Public School this year.
"Music is a gift that keeps on giving - I was eight or so when I started learning the guitar," she said.
"I started with eight kids and last year it was 80 kids at two schools."
