Scattered showers developed across Orange in the evening, with the Bureau of Meteorology indicating 2mm fell at the Orange Airport from about 7.30pm.
Nearly 4mm fell in west Orange and as much as 6mm was recorded in other parts of the city.
The last rain we had before Sunday's shower was the 0.2mm recorded on December 5, 2019. While Orange was one of just a few Central West centres to receive rain, with 1mm falling in Young on Monday morning.
The welcome drop of rain marks the end of a dire month-long stretch of no rain for Orange, and residents will be hoping it also signals the beginning of a promising week.
The BoM is forecasting up to 5mm of rain for each of the next seven days, with the city's best chance on Monday with a 40 per cent chance of a storm predicted in the evening.
The extended run of 30-plus degree days will also continue, with a top of 30 predicted for Monday with our hottest day of the week likely to be Friday's forecast temperature of 35 degrees Celcius.
