The senior competition has expanded, albeit slowly, while the youth girls have also taken off.

But one team had clearly had the wood on the others through the five years of the competition - the Bathurst Bushrangers, who picked up nearly double the premiership points of their nearest rival over the five years.

For the first three years of the AFL Central West senior women's competition, it was the Bathurst Bushrangers' world and we were just living in it.

They only lost one game in the first three seasons, and won three premierships in what was essentially the blink of an eye as a seriously good football team in what was still a fledgling competition.

While the Giants and Demons shocked them in 2018 by knocking them out of the finals in straight sets after they Bushrangers again only dropped one game during the regular season, they still comfortably come up as the strongest side of the decade.

Despite being the second side in the AFL Central West to pick up a women's premiership when they overcame the Bathurst Giants in 2018, the Demons couldn't field a side the next year.

It was their best season on paper, too, as despite often playing with 13 due to player availability - especially while travelling - the Demons picked up 11 wins from their 15 games before going on to win the flag.

Despite that, they've still won 65 per cent of their games in the competition's history, and if coming back in 2020 would still provide a real challenge to the top of the table.

The Tigers are one of three teams who've played in the competition since its inception and have never quite clicked in the way that could propel them to a premiership.

They won one game in their first season, and while they've won eight, eight, eight and seven in the four seasons since they haven't looked like a side threatening to take finals by the scruff of the neck, despite flashes of brilliant play.

The Giants have been a revelation in their two years in the AFL Central West women's competition, storming into a grand final in their debut year against the Demons before going one further to win in an all-Bathurst derby decider in 2019.

They avoided the struggles their male counterparts had while joining the competition, winning nine games in their debut season before only dropping two of their 12 games in 2018 on their way to a premiership.

Maybe surprisingly, Cowra has racked up the most games of any club in the women's competition since its inception. Due to a quirk of byes in 2016, the Blues have played one more game than the Tigers and Bushrangers for a total of 62.

However, of those 62 just eight have been wins, with 53 losses and a draw during that time, which included flying the flag in the back half of 2017 and all of 2018 as the only senior Aussie rules side in Cowra after the men withdrew from the competition.

Parks have played three seasons in the competition and have come up with just the four wins from their 40 games.

Young played just over a season in the competition before folding, managing 10 games in 2016 and just the three in 2017.

They managed six wins in those 13 games, so were certainly no slouches on the football field, but the distance to the rest of the competition proved too much for them.
