TWO of the region's food producers had their wares held up on the weekend due to bushfires in the Blue Mountains.

Trunkey Bacon and Pork was unable to get its Christmas hams to the Blue Mountains owing to market cancellations and closures on the Great Western Highway.
Owner Zanzie D'Souza met some customers halfway in Bathurst on Monday to get their hams to them.
"We also donated some to the RFS so at least it will help them out for a few days," she said.
Mrs D'Souza and her husband were able to attend a market in Sydney by taking a six-and-a-half-hour detour via Goulburn, but said the inconvenience paled in comparison to what those in the mountains were going through.
"We're all right but the people down there have lost homes," she said.
Orchardist Fiona Hall said four trucks of fruit were held up on Saturday due to the road closures.
She said they were due to leave Orange at midday but had to wait until 9.30pm.
"They were just late," she said.
For Paula Charnock at Thornbrook, the road closures meant lower numbers coming from Sydney to pick cherries - she estimated there was a third to a half of what she would have expected on the final picking weekend.
"One man got to Mount Victoria and was turned away and he's made the trip today," she said.
"Another couple came via Goulburn, they were very dedicated."
As residents continue to struggle with smoky conditions, supermarkets have experienced an uplift in bottled water sales.
Coles manager Darren Nurcombe said the store was clearing an extra one-and-a-half pallets a day.
"It's a big uplift with the smoke and the heat and everything else," he said.
Mr Nurcombe said he had heard recent complaints about the taste of Bathurst's tap water as supplies dropped, but none about Orange's to date.
