Orange Salvation Army Captain David Grounds said donated toys and gift vouchers would go to children whose families were in different difficult situations in Orange and surrounding areas.
"We help people all through the year but Christmas is a time when a lot of people find themselves unable to provide things for their children so we help them where we can," Captain Grounds said.
Captain Grounds said there were about 70 families who registered this year.
On Friday afternoon, the Salvation Army received a delivery of more than 150 toys and gift vouchers donated by employees and contractors from Newcrest Mining's Cadia Valley Operations.
The donation came following a toy run involving motorbike riders from across the region on Saturday.
A Cadia spokeswoman said Cadia had been collecting toys and gift vouchers donated by employees and contractors through a site-wide toy drive for the past three weeks.
She said Cadia supported the toy drive for the first time in 2018 and due to the overwhelming response from the workforce, decided to participate once again.
"Our workforce was very keen to support the toy drive and the fantastic work of the Salvation Army in making Christmas a little brighter for many children across the Orange community," the spokeswoman said.
"This year, we received more than $1800 in a range of gift vouchers which will give families the opportunity to personally select presents appropriate to their children's interests."
"Our Dollar for Dollar program has helped make the toy donations go even further this year, by matching every toy or gift voucher donated. This has allowed us to provide an additional amount of $3410 in gift vouchers to support more local families in need."
Toys and vouchers can be donated to the Salvation Army in Kite Street between 9.30am and 12pm on Monday or they can be donated to the Kmart Wishing tree.
People are encouraged not to wrap their gifts and not to donate toy guns or items that may be morally questionable.
