At 10am members of Habitat Connect and Lakecare volunteers as well as anyone else who wants to help, will meet at the Lakeshore Cafe.
The volunteers will be controlling European based weeds next to the electric barbecue.
The weeds, and arrived in the area due to plants being dumped on road sides and because of birds, could dominate the shore if not controlled.
Habitat Connect community engagement officer William Josh said the European weeds grow faster than native plants and some such as English ivy could if left alone could kill gum trees.
Anyone who has gardening gloves is encouraged to bring them along.
Volunteers should also bring a hat and wear suitable outdoor clothing.
The event is expected to run until about 1pm.
For more information call or message William Josh from Habitat Connect on 0407 256 791.
