Orange United Sports Club has been operating across a number of sports - think basketball, netball, cricket and touch football - for a number of years, but this will mark its first foray into rugby league and certainly at the senior level.
While their inclusion provides obvious competition for Orange Barbarians the 2019 runners-up are reportedly confident they'll be well-placed to go one better next year, despite losing captain-coaches Ben Gosper and Mitch Britt back to CYMS.
Kandos' application to return to the competition for their 100th anniversary season was also accepted and 2018 premiers Blackheath also nominated, signalling they'll return after a one-year hiatus.
With Oberon's expected drop to the second division becoming official as well, the New Era Cup is set to double in size from four teams this year to eight in 2020, with Lithgow Bears, CSU Bathurst and Portland rounding out the competition.
Lithgow Shamrocks' application was denied though, due to the pressures their addition would place on available venues, referee stocks and the area's player pool, which already fills those handful of clubs as it is.
Oberon was forced to consider shifting to either the New Era Cup or Woodbridge Cup thanks to player shortages, although the club was given the option of remaining in Group 10 and not playing in the top flight competition.
Travel commitments were earmarked as a potential problem in terms of the Woodbridge Cup while with no real junior base to speak of and a reserve grade side looking unlikely, that Group 10 offer was ruled out as well.
Although it was all but locked in some time ago the Tigers - who played in a Group 10 premier league grand final just three years ago - officially submitted their application to play in the New Era Cup.
