Members of both clubs met in two separate meetings at the OESC for the historic votes.
Wentworth Golf Club members voted 205 to 28 in favour of amalgamating.
More than 75 per cent of OESC members, who met an hour after the Wentworth members, voted to support the amalgamation.
The two club boards will meet in the coming weeks to begin the amalgamation process which will ultimately see golfing stop at the OESC's Country Club course at Bloomfield and the new club be based at Wentworth.
Wentworth general manager James Bale said there was little opposition to the amalgamation at their meeting.
OESC president Graham Gentles said the move would allow for improvements to the Wentworth golf course and the construction of a new clubhouse begin.
Wentworth has just begun building a temporary clubhouse after their main building was destroyed in a fire earlier this year.
