A RED light speed camera has been installed at one of Bathurst's busiest intersections.
Residents living near the intersection of Keppel and Stewart streets have received letters notifying them that the red light camera was to have been installed on Monday.
The letter says the camera will target westbound traffic driving through the intersection along Stewart Street.
"Each year, hundreds of lives are lost and thousands of people are seriously injured on NSW roads," the letter states.
"The cameras aim to reduce the number of fatal and serious injury crashes related to vehicles not stopping at red lights and speeding.
"Our research shows that speed cameras make drivers slow down, help reduce the road toll and lower the chances of having a crash."
According to the Transport for NSW website, a number of new locations for red light speed cameras have been approved across the state, rolling out from September 2019 and into the new year.
