Two GoGet cars will be located at Orange Regional Airport, adding to the existing seven vehicles based at the Department of Primary Industries building in Kite Street for DPI and public use.

GoGet business development manager Jake Hyde said Orange would join Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide airports with car sharing.

"You are beating Brisbane and Canberra," he said.

He said it would benefit tourists, business people and friends and family of Orange residents visiting the city.

"If you are coming here and you are a GoGet member you can book a GoGet car," he said.

GoGet has 150,000 members using 3500 share cars across Australia. There are 280 members in Orange with 30 per cent of the bookings from people out of town.

Members pay fees ranging from $30 a month to $49 a year depending on likely useage plus $6.50 an hour or $80 a day when they drove the vehicles.

Mr Hyde said users could avoid rental car company queues and forms at airports.

All running costs, including fuel, registration and maintenance, are included in the fees.

Members use a smart card to swipe a reader in a share car's windshield to access the vehicle in the car park.

Mr Hyde said Orange City Council had embraced the car share concept.

"Orange council has been fantastic in supporting it and they can see the benefit of this style of shareability," he said.

Orange deputy mayor and Airport Community Committee chair Sam Romano said it was a boost for the city.

"It is introducing another business into Orange. I am hoping it will create jobs," Cr Romano said.
