The construction has started ahead of members meeting on Wednesday night to decide whether the club should be amalgamated with the Orange Ex-Services' Club.
Wentworth general manager James Bale said it was hoped the construction would reach an early stage of providing cover and basic facilities for the club's open tournament on November 30 and December 1.
He said it would be "closer to Christmas" before the fitout work would be done.
Mr Bale said the temporary clubhouse would have tables, seating, a bar and an office.
He said the club had decided against putting demountables on the site of the former building as it would use the new structure into the future.
While it will provide clubhouse facilities until a new permanent facility was built on the old site the new structure will eventually become a storage area for golf carts.
Mr Bale said members were encouraged to attend Wednesday night's amalgamation meeting at 6pm at the Ex-Services' Club.
"We've had fairly positive support for it," he said.
If members approve the change a meeting of Ex-Services' Club members will follow at 7.30pm.
