Harrison Isaacs and Mark Niederle catapulted Cavaliers into the box seat of their Orange District Cricket Association Second Grade clash with CYMS, the pair dominating the opening day of the competition's first two-day clash of the summer.

Although CYMS will remain on top of the standings until the clash is complete Cavaliers have already secured first innings points and will leapfrog the green and golds if, as expected, they go on with their massive first-day showing.
CYMS won the toss and batted first at Jack Brabham 2 but didn't offer much resistance, Cavaliers skittling their top two rivals for just 141 in less than 40 overs, before Isaacs and Niederle went to work with the bat.
The duo hammered CYMS' attack to all corners of the ground to lead their maroons to an easy, first-innings win, Isaacs finishing the day unbeaten on 112 and Niederle working his way to 97 not out by stumps, the maroons ended the day with a formidable 2-246.
Already boasting a 105-run lead, Niederle is expected to have the chance to pass triple figures too, with the maroons no doubt looking to bat CYMS out of the game before declaring and having a crack at maximum points on day two.
In Saturday's other Second Grade game Kinross recovered after faltering early against Centrals and the students will enter the second day at the school's Main Oval supremely confident, the red and blacks require 212 more to win.
The students were in trouble at 5-79 through 32 overs, before Bailey O'Brien and Matt Mieklejohn set about resurrecting their innings.
The pair added 127 for the sixth wicket before Mieklejohn was dismissed for a well-made 65, with O'Brien going on to finish with 81 as Kinross declared at 256 before having a crack at Centrals in the late stages of the day.
The red and blacks' opening partnership of Ben Winslade and Will Richard were stoic at the crease though, surviving until stumps. They'll resume unbeaten on 24 and 14 respectively, with Centrals 0-44 and the game firmly in the balance.
Although no full scorecards were available at time of publication, Spring Hill continued their massive start to the Third Grade summer by posting a huge 6-301 against Centrals White, skittling the newcomers for just 112 in reply.
Orange City (3-118) chased down Cavaliers (7-117) easily as well, while CYMS Kellys (9-238) defeated the Gladstone (149) and Centrals Wanderers (211) easily knocked off CYMS Bourkes (94).
In Centenary Cup, CYMS (5-139) defeated Kinross White (136) and Orange City handed Kinross Blue a second straight defeat.
The Warriors were cruising at 0-60 through 12 overs in reply to Kinross' 130, but then collapsed to be in trouble at 5-86. They recovered though, eventually winning by two wickets with two overs to spare.
