AN air quality alert has been issued for residents across Orange with smoke from the Gospers Mountain fire, which continues to burn out of control in the Wollemi National Park, blanketing the city on Monday morning.
The smoke blanket is also covering Lithgow and Bathurst, while residents in the direct vicinity of fire at Glen Davis, Glen Alice and Newnes have been put on alert.
The Wollemi National Park blaze, around 200 kilometres east of Orange, is the largest fire currently burning in this region, covering 122,000 hectares.
There's also an under control fire just north of Narromine on the Warren Road.
The Office of Environment and Heritage (OEH) warns that visibility has been affected across the region and urges people with heart and lung disease should avoid exercising outdoors.
