Mayor Reg Kidd put aside his civic duties on Saturday to serve burgers and thick shakes from behind the counter at McDonald's for McHappy Day.

Cr Kidd has spent a couple of hours serving people for the McHappy Day fundraiser for the past two or three years and said there was an excellent turnout to the Bathurst Road business this year.
"They had a terrific roll-up," Cr Kidd said.

"The [staff] work hard, when it's busy it's busy.
"I always get behind the counter. It's for a good cause, it was for Ronald McDonald House."
Cr Kidd said this year there were various football clubs, an Aboriginal dance group, a motorbike club, and people dressed as cartoon and fairytale characters.
Money raised from the event will go towards Ronald McDonald House charities.
