THE two people involved in a collision, which disrupted the Mitchell Highway for several hours on Tuesday, have been identified as a 61-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman.

Police said the man was driving a Ford Ranger eastbound on the highway just before 4pm when he turned right towards Millthorpe Road, colliding with the woman's Mitsubishi Lancer travelling west.
The woman suffered pain to the neck, shoulder and chest and was initially trapped in the car.
Emergency services attended the scene about 3.50pm and were able to free the driver from the vehicle.
Westbound traffic was diverted around the crash which had occurred near the turn off into Millthorpe.
Police were still diverting traffic through Spring Hill to avoid the scene at 6.30pm.
Central West Police District Sergeant Jason Barker said forensic services were still on scene just before 7pm.
Sergeant Barker said traffic diversions were expected to stay in place until after 8pm, as an investigation was underway.
