Originally created in an effort to cover funeral costs for Mr Darcy's family, the family friends say they wanted to set up a central place where people could offer their support.
"As two close friends of Nate's parents, we are heartbroken. We wanted to set up a base for people to be able to offer their support to Nate's family, as there were so many people reaching out," a post on the GoFundME page said.
"Nate's family are overwhelmed with the response from everyone, not only in regards to the GoFundMe page but also the community love and support.
Keep the love and support flowing and take care of each other. Buddy up, stick together and #saveamatefornate

"We too are overwhelmed thus far and would like to thank each and every one of you and ask you to keep sharing the GoFundMe page."

The GoFundMe page has - at the time this was written - raised $15,670 from 243 donors.
Those that have donated have left messages of support along with their contributions including businesses and friends not in the Mudgee region.
Mr Darcy, 18, went missing after a night out with friends on Saturday, November 2.
Following an extensive search of Mudgee and surrounds, Mr Darcy's body was found and eventually recovered from a building in Mudgee CBD, according to official information from police.
A report is currently being prepared for the coroner.
