There is a one very simple way for Premier Berejiklian to counter the argument that removing warning signs for fixed speed cameras is merely a revenue raising exercise but she will need to stand up to the NSW Nationals to do it.

Right now in the Central West and across NSW there are numerous average speed cameras that monitor and fine truck drivers whose average speed between point A and point B exceeded the posted speed limit, but these cameras do not generate fines for vehicles under 4.5 tonnes.
The reason? The Nationals in NSW do not want this road safety technology applied to car drivers who speed while driving the big distances we often have to cover in regional NSW.
The logic of the Nats and others who oppose using this life saving technology seems to be that country car drivers somehow know when it's safe to exceed the speed limit (often 110km/h) by a little or a lot, on a long country drive.
Prove me wrong Premier, by picking up the phone and telling Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro, that as part of your road safety initiative average speed cameras will now fine all speeding drivers.
