She didn't know, though, it'd be award-winning.

The image recently took out the major award in the open category of the NSW Grandparents Day Photography competition.

Mrs Hilton Brown, who is deputy principal at Orange Public School, is the daughter of Cowra residents Bob and Gay Hilton.

Her special image was captioned: Daisy (7 months) with her Poppa (93). She nuzzled in as he kissed her bald head, whispering stories about the Nan she missed meeting, who would have also adored her. My Mum, Nan and I had been an inseparable trio and Poppa ensured that Daisy knew about the love of his life.

Poppa was long time Cowra resident Viv Miller who passed away in 2016.

He made over 64 years of contribution to the Cowra Jockey Club, of which he was a life member, and country racing as a bookmaker, administrator, trainer, owner and breeder. Nan was the late Doreen Miller.

"Obviously it was a very special photo and lovely to be acknowledged in this way," Mrs Hilton Brown said.

"One of the judges told mum at the ceremony that she was pleased that all the judges agreed on my photo as the love that it showed between these two was transfixing."

Mrs Hilton Brown said she loves taking photos.

"So obviously it was a bit crazy hearing that sort of compliment but so special for me as a person who was lucky enough to have parents who ensured all aspects of our lives included our grandparents," she added.

"Being able to share such a close relationship with them has helped to shape who am and I know they would love this," she said of the award.

NSW Acting Minister for Seniors Dr Geoff Lee presented the award to Rebecca at a ceremony held in the Preston Stanley Room at NSW Parliament House on October 22.

The aim of the competition is to foster relationships between younger and older generations by creating and capturing special moments together.

The theme this year was 'connecting generations'.
