Sue and I arrived in Orange in 1982 with a Holden Torana with spider webs on the rear vision mirror and a one-year-old child. I started a surgery in the Alpine Sores, then after three years joined Joe McRae, Lyle Deithe and Lorraine Livingstone at Anson Medical Centre.

Life has been very good. Orange has been a fantastic place to live and to bring up our children.
General Practice is a wonderful profession, getting to know patients personally as well as medically and following their lives and their families through the good and the bad times.
Every person comes in for a reason, and everyday can be different.
I have particularly liked engaging and working with children, adolescents, my Aboriginal patients and psychiatric patients.

Some of my patients are still with me from the Alpine Stores days, and there are many families where I look after four generations. Many of my patients have become like friends and I will miss that contact with them.

My life has been extremely comfortable and enjoyable working with the staff and Doctors in the practice. I have worked in a very happy environment. I will miss them all.
When I started looking out the window and thought I would rather be out there, I knew it was time to retire.
We have been fortunate that Dr Lionel Chan will be joining the practice when I leave. He is extremely well qualified in so many areas of medicine, and he is an energetic fellow and will fit very well into Anson Medical.
I will be returning to the practice to do locums when Doctors are away.
Sue and I will remain in Orange. We have seven grandchildren, aged five and under and there is so much else to do outside the walls of the surgery
