Bayliss belted 77 from just 62 balls in his Royal Hotel Cup debut but the red and blacks fell four short of the required 163 for victory, and a defeat at CYMS' hands on Friday night would virtually spell the end in terms of the side's finals dream.
Simply, fighting back from two straight losses to make the finals is all but unheard of, with Centennials Bulls the only side to do that in the Twenty20 competition's history.
Bayliss' task is no easy feat against a CYMS side that knocked off reigning champions St Pat's Old Boys in their tournament-opener, and will be looking to rocket to the top of the standings with a second straight victory.
Centrals take on CYMS from 6.30pm on Friday night, at Wade Park.
