Ms Hughes has set up premises inside Centrepoint Arcade.
"We were getting a really good response and we'd tried a couple of different venues including the CWA so I thought I would make the move to a permanent spot," she said.
With knitting an crochet supplies store Bibbly J Boutique opening next door recently, Ms Hughes hoped the quiet arcade could become a creative hub.
"That would be so nice, there's a real need for it here," she said.
Ms Hughes hoped to run workshops for preschoolers where parents could entertain their children without the clean-up, as well as sessions for nursing home.
She has even hosted a tea blending workshop from the premises.
Smooth-ie start
PEANUT butter and jelly smoothie anyone?
Running a home business for most people means a home office, but not for Megan Middleton.
Mrs Middleton has started High Energy Health Bar, a weekday smoothie bar offering both drink-in and takeaway options for breakfast and lunch.
"We do takeaway, but we also have the tables so people can sit down, watch the news, read the paper, that kind of thing to get ready for the day," she said.
Mrs Middleton said she previously ran personal training classes from home and loved creating her own smoothies.
"We had the room in our home so we decided to use it," she said.
"I've been using smoothies for 12 years, it's great first thing in the morning, so why not take it to the public?"
High Energy Health Bar opened on Monday at 24 Seymour Street.
Flip off
POPULAR family hangout Flip Out has closed its doors after four years in business.
The trampoline centre on Edward Street closed at the end of October, with a voicemail message its phone line thanking people for their support.
Flip Out's head office was contacted for comment.
It is the second children's play business to close this year after Pee Wees Play Centre finished in July.
