Orange is expected to receive its most significant rainfall in almost six months with up to 40 millimetres of rain predicted to fall on Sunday.
Weatherzone.com is forcasting an 80 per cent chance of between 20mm and 40mm of rain on Sunday, while there's a 50-50 chance of rain again on Monday, albeit a touch less with up to 5mm predicted.
If Sunday's forecast comes to fruition, it'll be the best rainfall we've had in Orange since 39mm fell on May 4 this year.
The rain should be enough to fill tanks and maybe even a couple of dams.
- Weatherzone meteorologist Brett Dutschke.
The best falls recorded between that day in May and now were on September 17, when 21mm fell.
The rain is tipped to be widespread too, which is welcome news to most parts of the Central West. Nyngan received no rainfall throughout the month of October.
"In terms of final rainfall tallies it is too early to call exactly but we are expecting it will be a widespread rain, the front is moving through very slowly and allowing moisture laden air from the Pacific Ocean to the east to feed into it so there should be falls over a large portion of the east coast," Weatherzone meteorologist Brett Dutschke said.
"It is far from a drought busting rain, but it is a good start and it is falling where it is desperately needed.
"The rain should be enough to fill tanks and maybe even a couple of dams."
