Leading neuroscientist Professor Bryce Vissel has that vision and is leading research into it in Sydney.
Professor Vissel has been invited by Orange doctor Steve Peterson, who became quadraplegic after being hit by a car while riding his bike to work last year, to speak in Orange.
Dr Peterson said Professor Vissel was the director of the Centre for Neuroscience and Regenerative Medicine at the University of Technology Sydney.
His research covers a range of degenerative diseases and spinal cord injuries.
Dr Peterson said he met Professor Vissel during his 269-day recovery stay in hospital in Sydney.
There can't be too many families in Orange that wouldn't have a family member who hasn't been affected by Parkinson's or Alzheimer's.

"He is about to begin a research project on epidural stimulation, which essentially aims to improve movement and sensation below the level of injury through electrical signals on the spinal cord bypassing previous damage," he said.
"He believes this will have implications for management of Parkinson's and dementia as well."
Dr Peterson said Professor Vissel would present the Centre's vision of a world without these diseases and injuries and how his research was progressing.
He said the talk was pitched at both the medical world and the public.
"We think there will be a mix of both," he said.
Dr Peterson said people interested in the research into Alzheimer's and Parkinson's would be able to learn how it was going.
"There can't be too many families in Orange that wouldn't have a family member who hasn't been affected by Parkinson's or Alzheimer's," he said.
"This is an opportunity to ask about it."
Dr Peterson said Professor Vissel also wanted to thank people and organisations in Orange who had donated funds to his research.
That includes the Orange Mountain Bike Club which raised funds toward the research and to help Dr Peterson's family travel to Sydney when he was recuperating.
Professor Vissel will speak at the Orange Ex-Services' Club at a dinner on Wednesday December 4.
It costs $50 to attend which includes dinner. RSVP to stevedebpeterson@gmail.com by Wednesday November 27.
