This is the question Orange Theatre Company will grapple with when it stages iconic rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar for five performances, starting on Thursday night.
The story follows Judas (Alan Moxey) as he struggles with Jesus' (Nick Schmich) rising popularity and what it could cost their people in a world dominated by the Roman Empire, while Mary Magdalene (Michelle Lindsay) tries to hold onto the man she loves.
The cast moved into Orange Civic Theatre on Sunday and director Bruce Buchanan said the show was coming together well now they could combine costumes with sets and lighting.
"They've been walking on cross that's taped to the ground, but now they're on a platform and risers that we couldn't fit in the band hall," he said.
Jesus Christ Superstar will be staged at the theatre until Sunday.
Mr Buchanan said ticket sales had been good, but there were plenty of good seats left.
"Hopefully when people come to the night markets on Friday, they make a point of seeing the show afterwards," he said.
Tickets are available for $52.50 for adults, $47 for pensioners and $30 for juniors from the Ticketek website or the box office.
