In his own words Black has "unfinished business" with the Macquarie Valley-based side.

"Orana beat us in the semi-final at the SCG when I was in the Wagga Sloggers side [in 2017-18], they lost the final that year though," Black said, the Outlaws had won the previous summer's tournament.

"I still remember that game pretty well, getting back to the SCG is the goal because it's a great experience and it would be pretty good to knock Orana off first-up on our way there and get one back on them, definitely."

Black linked with Cavaliers last summer but wasn't named in the Central West squad, one that became the first Central West side to win through to the marquee Twenty20 tournament's semi-finals.

He's one of eight new faces in this season's Jameel Qureshi-led Wranglers outfit, with Orange District Cricket Association providing four more of them in Orange City's Ed Morrish and Brett Causer, Centrals' Fletcher Rose and boom Kinross recruit James Larkin.

They join Cavaliers skipper Matt Corben in the squad, he's one of just six incumbents alongside Qureshi, Adam Ryan, Henry Shoemark, Connor Slattery and Ben Sheehan.

Black forced the Central West selectors' hands with a magnificent performance in his debut season in Orange, last summer he snared 55 wickets overall at a ridiculous average of just 10.92.

Nine of those scalps came in the shortest format, he took six at 18 in the Royal Hotel Cup and another three at 9.66 in Orange's winning Mitchell Cricket Council Twenty20 Cup campaign.

"I'm really keen, it'll be good getting in around a new side," Black said.

The Wranglers won both their preliminary games last year but history shows a loss in the group stage isn't the end of the world, with sides rarely going through undefeated.

Two losses would spell the end though, so Black said his side kick-starting their campaign with a first-up win over Orana is important.

It would take the pressure off slightly ahead of Sunday's second and third games against South Coast and Illawarra, with the Wrangers travelling to the south coast after Saturday's game to tackle the Crew and Flames.

"Yeah for sure, I'm sure a few guys will still be blowing the cobwebs out but hopefully we can get that roll on early, get the win and take that into the second and third games on Sunday," Black said.

Black also said his side, most of whom took part, should take note of Bathurst's win over Orange in last weekend's Western Zone Premier League opener at Wade Park.

Albeit in the 50-over format, the Barracudas launched in the opening six overs of their chase on a tacky wicket, going at eight-an-over to virtually hit Orange out of the game by the six-over mark.

"They went hard and we saw how effective that was through the powerplay so those first overs will be important whether we bat or bowl first," Black said.

The Wranglers face an Outlaws side devoid of a number of the Macquarie Valley's traditional big-name stars.

While Jason Ryan will skipper the side and Marty Jeffrey has been named too, the likes of Mitch Bower and Ben Strachan to name a couple won't turn out for the 2016-17 champions.

The Wranglers face the Crew from 9.30am and the Flames from 1.30pm on Sunday, the first game is at Shellharbour's Tom Willoughby Oval and the second at Albion Park's Keith Grey Oval.
