The group was the beneficiary of the model engineers' annual fundraising day from which proceeds will go towards creating a garden at Uniting Parkwood in Prince Street, where a palliative care trial is being run until March.
Orange Push for Palliative president Jenny Hazelton said the group will have to wait for the model engineers' to hold a meeting before they find out how much money they will receive for the garden.
However, Mrs Hazelton said Push for Palliative also did fundraising and raised close to $500 through the sale of sausage sandwiches and cupcakes.
"We can say it was very successful, the weather was a bit cold and cloudy but there was a lot of activity," Mrs Hazelton said.
Mrs Hazelton said the garden would be adjacent to the palliative care rooms and would be completed in stages taking into account water restrictions.
"The garden is for the existing residents at Parkwood and it will be for the palliative care patients and their families," she said.
"With level 5 water restrictions we've had to change our tack. We are not going to do any of the large plantings until the change of seasons."
She said Orange North Rotary Club was also raising money for the garden, all nurseries in Orange were supportive and mayor Reg Kidd discussed water efficient planting.
