AS the Red Cross Blood Service's donor centre in Orange urgently seeks more donations this week, it has also turned itself pink for breast cancer awareness.
Steve Butler and Karen Howarth donated plasma on Tuesday.
Ms Howarth said she started donating after a colleague underwent cancer treatment.
"It's something you can do to help," she said.
Mr Butler said he rode motorbikes and had donated for 30 years.
"You never know when you might need it," he said.
Milkshakes and treats were still in order on Tuesday for donors, but all underwent a colour change as part of the Pink Up Your Town campaign.
"About 30 per cent of our products go to cancer patients so it's close to our hearts," donor centre manager Gayle Turnbull said.
Behind the bright colour remains a serious cause - another 29 donations are needed to meet this week's demand.
Mrs Turnbull said the winter lull had passed, but the school holidays had led to a shortage.
