Imagine having enough confidence to get out of your car to defend yourself during a road rage incident that wasn't your fault, instead of apologising and driving off as quickly as possible.
Have you ever wanted to be so financially wealthy that you could pay Rupert Murdoch to drop his pants and perform a silly dance while singing in a high pitch voice, just for a laugh?
So people would think I was white,
- Akmal Saleh
Well in his one-hour show, Open For Renovations, comedian Akmal Saleh will be asking the audience if they know how he can achieve these things.
Known for his ability to deal with hot topics in a hilarious and slightly offensive way, Saleh promises to deliver a show that is punctual and jam-packed.
One of Australia's most respected and accomplished comics, Saleh draws on his Arabic heritage, his experiences immigrating to Australia at the age of 11.
"My parents didn't tell us where we were going. We thought it was two hours away. Twenty hours later, we got off a plane. We were on another planet," he said.
He'll touch on his disillusionment with religion and the modern world to deliver a stand-up show that is fresh and honest.
Saleh entered the world of comedy in 1990 under the alias Peter Saleh.
"So people would think I was white," he said.
Since then he's performed in movies, on TV and as a regular radio and talk show host, and has written a book about his journey from Egypt and his life as an Arab on the Australian comedy circuit.
As a stand-up he's performed at festivals all around the world including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Montreal Comedy Festival and The Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
His sharp wit and no-nonsense approach has also resulted in numerous comedy awards.
He's also received two ARIA nominations for his live specials.
Saleh will bring his latest show and a philosophical line of questioning to regional audiences next month.
Open For Renovations will be performed at Orange City Bowling Club on October 17, Bathurst RSL on October 18 and Dubbo RSL on October 19.
The shows all kick off at 8pm and tickets are $44.
Tickets are available through Trybooking.com or by visiting Saleh's website akmal.com.au.
