He'd shown plenty of promise in his trials and at Towac Park on Monday afternoon Karmazone delivered on debut for Hawkesbury trainer Daniel Robinson, holding off Gary Portelli's fast-finisher to salute at $10 odds.

Robinson's four-year-old was a mid-market starter and was considered a good chance in the Epiroc Maiden Handicap (1400 metres), while the entire field's job was made a touch easier with Heeby Jeeby's scratching.

He jumped from barrier eight and with Shaun Guymer on board settled well mid-pack before finding a dream run in the straight and exploding to the lead at the 200 mark.
With one kick he held onto that lead and won by a head from Portelli's $2.40 favourite Vigoroso, which roared home and hit the line well after being forced wide in the sprint.
The former Orange trainer and 2017 Golden Slipper champion's three-year-old settled mid-pack as well but was three wide, albeit with cover.
He was pushed further out in his bid for a run and that looked a factor because with his turn of foot in the race's dying stages, he would've reeled Karmazone on with a little extra distance.
Rob Potter's Costa Chin Chin ($7) was a further length-and-a-half back in third, edging out Mitch Newman's Miss Fortuitous ($12), which rounded out the first four.
