The new Optus tower was put together in a collaboration between the federal government, local businesses, the community and Cadia as part of the government's Mobile Black Spot Program.

The Panuara South site was funded by the government, Optus and Newcrest Mining, and was selected following community engagement to ensure the coverage best met the needs of the community.

Member for Calare, Andrew Gee, said he was pleased more than 160 local residents and businesses would now have better service in more locations.

"The new mobile base station is the latest of 37 sites across Calare to receive new or improved mobile coverage under the Mobile Phone Blackspot Program," Mr Gee said.

Local landholder and chairperson of the local community group who campaigned for the telecommunications tower, Florence Ovenden, said the construction of the towers will increase communication on local farms and assist agricultural businesses.

She thanked Optus, Cadia and the federal Government for the work on the new tower.

"It will ensure we feel connected with the wider community and support our local emergency services," she said.
