While Orange has no shortage of coffee shops, plans to put one in the Bottler drive-through liquor facility at the back of the former Kelly's Hotel on Lords Place are at least something different.
A development application for the take away coffee and food shop has been submitted by Travis Kerry for the premises owned by the Ophir Tavern.
It is proposed the coffee shop would be under the same roof as the bottle shop but on the opposite side of the driveway.
The shop would be open from 5am-2pm, whereas the bottle shop opens from 10am.
"The proximity to residential properties nearby requires consideration but the nature and operating hours of the drive through coffee shop will not generate significant adverse impacts," the DA states.
"The drive through nature of the takeaway food and drink premises involves only short stay customer visits and will have little to no impact on the parking on site or within the local street network.
"The food and drink premises is designed to be quick collection only, no tables and chairs are provided, so limited long term noise is anticipated.
"The food will be all pre-packaged with no cooking on site."
The DA said advertising signs for the coffee shop would be placed on both the Lords Place and Moulder Street facades of the site.
It is currently on exhibition at Orange City Council.
Public submissions about the plans need to be received by council by 5pm on Friday September 27.
