About 100 former and current students, parents, teachers and community members turned up to the school on Saturday morning to celebrate the occasion.

Siblings Ross Baker and Janelle Hagerty were at the school in the 1950s and 60s, with their father Bob a student in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

They're part of four generations of Bakers who've gone through the school, with Mrs Hargerty's grandson Ryan Grossmitch currently at the school.

Mrs Hagerty was a student during the school's 100^th anniversary, and while she's kept a memorial spoon since the event she "can't remember much of it at all, as I was only in year one".

Mr Baker said the school had completely changed since his time as a student, with the old teacher's residence and old schoolhouse demolished and new buildings having sprung up in the six decades since he finished.

"This school wasn't here when I finished ... there was an old weatherboard building there back in the day."

"Back in our day it was more locals, we didn't have anyone from Orange come out and the numbers fluctuated a lot depending on the seasons."

Mr Baker said if work on farms was good, there'd be more families moving out to Spring Terrace and more students at the school, with 30 or 40 students for one teacher there on a good year compared to 10 or 12 during quiet times - nearly enough to consider closing the school.

"In a small school it's a very community based thing, you play tennis together, all the kids knew and helped each other, that's changed a lot now," he said.

"It's still here as a small community but you found back in the day everyone knew everyone really well and while it's still there, it's not as much."

Brian Baker was the oldest former student in attendance and was part of the class of 1955, having started at the school in 1949 as a six-year-old.

He was joined by five-year-old Clara Hutchinson, who at just five years old the youngest current student at Spring Terrace, with the two of them cutting the cake as part of official celebrations.

Mr Baker, who is loosely related to Janelle and Ross, said he couldn't remember much at all about his time at school.

"I just remember my teacher, Mr O'Brien, he was a really good teacher," he said.

"We went to a little old wooden school and now it's changed to all this - it's fantastic."
