Lang's sound is defined by his distinctive command of the guitar, incorporating acoustic, electric and slide variations of the instrument.
The three-time ARIA award winner is credited for inspiring the sound of John Butler, who rose to fame in the 2000s as a member of the John Butler Trio.
But despite an incorporation of multiple genres into his music, Lang said he approaches each song individually.
"I don't really analyse the stylistic overview of my music because the more you examine your own work, the less fun it becomes," he said.
"While my music is grounded in blues and folk, there's Indian, West African and Celtic influences in the mix as well."
Lang's music career spans over three decades, and has produced 13 studio albums, five collaborative works and seven live recordings.
In recent months, Lang has turned to online content subscription service Patreon to share new music and unreleased material from various points throughout his career.
Lang has dubbed his current lineup of shows the Patreon Archives tour, and intends to provide more information on how the service works.
"I'm using Patreon to give fans an opportunity to access various recordings [songs, live performances etc.] that have never seen the light of day," he said.
"It's linked to the changing nature of the music industry, but I see it as more of an online marketplace for fans who still prefer to pay for music."
Lang last performed in Bathurst at the 2012 Inland Sea of Sound festival, and said guitar enthusiasts are in for a treat at the upcoming gig
"I intend to cover plenty of sonic ground through the use of acoustic, resonator and lap steel guitars," he said.
"The set-list will span my entire career and I might even write a new song on the afternoon before the gig."
Jeff Lang will perform at The Victoria Bathurst on Friday, September 20 from 6pm.
Tickets cost $27 and are available through the event's Facebook page.
