Students at Cowra High School were on Monday offered counselling following the death of a Year 11 student from the school in a car accident on Sunday.

In a letter sent to parents school principal Helene Hamilton advised "school counsellors were available to support students".
About 3.05pm on Sunday, September 15, emergency services were called to Darbys Falls Road, near Porters Mount Road, where a car had left the road and collided with a tree.
According to police a Holden sedan, with four occupants, was travelling west bound when the vehicle left the road, crashed into a tree and rolled.
Police, NSW Ambulance paramedics, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Police Rescue and NSW Rural Fire Service attended.
A 17-year-old male passenger died at the scene.

The student body at Cowra High was addressed at a full school assembly this morning (Monday, September 16).
"You will be saddened to hear that one of our Year 11 students was tragically killed in a car accident on Sunday, 15 September," principal Hamilton said in a letter sent to parents.
"We know that you will join us in feeling very deep sympathy for his grieving parents and family.
"I have spoken to the students at an assembly this morning, as it is important that they receive clear and accurate information.
"This is a time when we need to support and look after each other.
"I have passed on to the boy's family the deepest sympathies of our whole school community and we will be doing our best to help them through this most difficult of times," Ms Hamilton said.
One student described the mood at the school as "very sad".
