The Australian rock legend started his career with Cold Chisel when he moved to Adelaide from Alice Springs, after failing one of his high school years.
He applied for a gig as a guitarist from an advertisement in a shop window in 1973, which landed him a role with the band responsible for hits including Khe Sanh, Flame Tree, Cheap Wine and When The War Is Over.
Touring into the heartland that is regional Australia has always been something that I have looked forward to for over 40 years, especially meeting the fans and hearing their stories
- Ian Moss
The high school drop out began touring the country with organist and principal songwriter Don Walker, drummer Steve Prestwich, bass player Phil Small and singer Johnny Barnes.
Barnes once described Moss as a 'boy from the bush who didn't wear shoes but played fantastically.'
In the years since, Moss has landed awards for Album of the Year, Best Male Artist, Breakthrough Artist - Album, Breakthrough Artist - Single and Song of the Year for Tucker's Daughter, as well as being nominated for Single of the Year at the 1990 ARIA Awards.
No stranger to the Central West, Moss has performed in the region multiple times.
According to the iconic Aussie musician, it's because he "likes to look after regional Australia."
"Touring into the heartland that is regional Australia has always been something that I have looked forward to for over 40 years, especially meeting the fans and hearing their stories," he said.
"The audiences have always been supportive, and I'm looking forward to getting back out there next year and sharing this special Matchbook 30th anniversary with them."
Matchbook was released in 1989, peaking at number one on the ARIA charts.
The album stayed in the Top 10 for 14 weeks and sold more than 200,000 copies within the first 12 months.
