Access roads to Mount Canobolas have been closed following overnight snow falls in the area, with boom gates closed as a precaution to help ensure motorists are not at risk of an accident or being stranded on the mountain overnight.
Cabonne Council staff will conduct further inspections on Monday afternoon to determine when the roads can be reopened.
Cabonne Council says their main priority is the safety of road users and it will endeavour to open the roads should conditions allow it.
However, if snow or ice make conditions dangerous, the boom gates on the access roads will remain closed.
Mount Canobolas isn't the only area to be hit by springtime snow either, with a flurry of winter predicted for high areas in the Central Tablelands on Monday.
The Bureau of Meteorology's (BoM) MetEye website shows snow is predicted around Lithgow, Jenolan Caves, Katoomba and Crookwell.
Widespread snowfall was expected at 7am on Monday, with heavier falls at 10am.
The snow is predicted to stay around until 1pm.
Meanwhile, for the spring ahead, the BoM's senior hydrologist Dr Paul Feikema said drier than average conditions are likely with a 70 to 80 per cent chance of below average rainfall in the Central West.
"Days are likely to be warmer than average," he said.
In the Central West, there is an 80 per cent chance of above average temperatures.
