They were through to a grand final.
Hawks pushed ahead after a big second half against CYMS, with young gun Lilly Baker and McDonald crossing the line to cement the side's chance for redemption over St Pat's next week in Bathurst.
The first half was a tight affair as both sides defended like their lives depended on it, with both the greens and sky blues scrambling to lay last-grasp tags on the line.
Fullback Holy Gibson and Kate Foran were both exceptional for CYMS defensively, with a Rianno Bordic try the only slip-up from CYMS in the first half.
Not to say the greens weren't attacking - far from it. Hawks eventually had the ball down their attacking end more, but early in the first half the ball was going from end to end.
Emily Williams had a chance to open scoring for CYMS 10 minutes in after soccering the ball forward, but was brilliantly corralled and tagged by Emily Irwin 15 metres from the try line, but it was the story of all their pushes forward - getting close but not being able to finish.
That effort was almost as close as CYMS got to scoring, and Hawks skipper Jacky Lyden admitted a few efforts "could have gone either way".
However, she said it was "unreal" to be into a grand final.
"It's been so good," she said.
"We've got a lot of under-18s with us so developing them and bringing our young ones through, it's been amazing."
"Playing with those younger kids gives us more drive to show these young ones it doesn't matter how old you are, we can keep driving and giving it everything we've got and we try and be good role models."
Lyden paid credit to CYMS, with the first half an especially tough contest, but was stoked to have stormed away in the second half.
"It always is [tough] with CYMS, they're always really hard and credit to them and they've been really good," she said.
"Sometimes we fall off in the second half and we said 'we've got to give it everything we've got' get a better defence and keep them down on their end, complete our sets and it was good."
CYMS coach Mark Jasprizza said it was a "disappointing" result for his charges.
"They played really well last week and I'm not sure what it was, if it was the weather or what but unfortunately we dished that up today," he said.
"We started good and just got on the back foot and they got a roll on and we couldn't get back from there.
"We're all disappointed we played one of our worst games today but look back at the year, we aimed to make the top five and we made the top three and they've had a good year."
He said being 6-nil down at half time his side had a chance at half time, but it wasn't to be.
