The Youth Action Council in Orange, which consists of 20 people aged 10-23 years old, is organising the Neon Run for people of all ages.
Orange City Council youth development officer Katrina Hausia said about 200 people were likely to walk and run laps around Elephant Park on Saturday night during the Neon Run.
There will be prizes for whoever can complete the most laps in two hours plus prizes for the best-dressed competitors.
"They have chosen an '80s theme for dressing up," she said.
"People should come with their glow sticks wrapped around them."
Registrations will be open from 6pm for a 6.30pm start.
Apart from the run/walk competitors will also be able to stop at fitness stations along the way to test their skills at chest presses, pull-ups and at a standing rower machine.
Miss Hausia said whoever could do the most in a minute would also win a prize.
She said the Orange Running Club and the Orange United Sports Club would be involved in helping the Youth Action Council run the night and provide timing and volunteer officials.
Miss Hausia said there would be a sausage sizzle at the park, a DJ would be playing on the night and a movie would be screened during the event to keep younger people entertained.
She said it would be an alcohol-free event.
