This week saw the Orange City Woodward Street Quality Meats U17's team travel to Dubbo to play against Mudgee in the final and come away with a hard fought win against the minor premiers.
Both teams started the game well and a tough contest was seen between the two forward packs.
Mudgee scored the first try, but not long after Sean Carpenter broke Mudgee defence to score the first try for City.
From the restart City marched their way up the field with some good runs from the forwards, and the Lions' backs than moved the ball quickly out wide which allowed Henry Bouffler to have room to step his way through the outside backs to score and Harry West converted.
City continued to put pressure on Mudgee's defence and attack, which lead to a mistake from the northern side.
Carpenter quickly responded and picked the ball up and ran 20 metres to score, West converted the goal, and City went into the break with 19 to 5 lead.
Mudgee started the second half strong and scored a try soon after the half time break.
The game than steady with both teams attacking each other try lines, half way through the second half, Harry West kicked the ball through and Raph Wald regathered the ball and scored a try in the corner.
Mudgee scored a try late in the second half to close out the game.
The under-17s now plays against Dubbo this weekend in the Grand final at home at Pride park.
The Orange City Rugby Club would like to congratulate both the under 13s and under 17s teams on making it through to the Grand final.
