That was among the challenges for 220 primary and secondary students across western NSW at the regional final of Tournament of Minds at Orange Public School on Sunday.
Teams of seven students were given six weeks and a $75 limit to prepare a response for the judging.
Regional director Ashleigh Allwood said the tournament tested students' creativity and other skills.
"Everything has to be made in your town. If there was a wig [in the costume] you have to construct the wig," she said.
Miss Allwood said students also had to respond to a spontaneous challenge with just five minutes to prepare.
The winning teams now go to the state championship in Sydney on September 15.
