The Bears have battled since the 2017 season but with an entirely new-look committee hope to turn that around next season.

Damon Taylor will take over from Tim Mooney as the club's president while Jack Nixon (vice president) and Casey Edwards (treasurer) are on board and Olivia Bird and Jess McLean will share the secretary position, taking over the long-serving Lisa Oborn in the role.

As a former president, Hornby is no stranger to the club and will lead the Bears' bid to recruit new players ahead of next winter.

That process has already begun with the goal of signing up to five quality first grade players to compliment a promising group of juniors in maroon and white.

The Bears' under 18s have defied their small player pool to reach the Group 10 finals in successive seasons and Hornby says adding experience to the club is key as Blayney aims to return to finals footy in the top grade next season.

"We'll be having a good crack at it next year," Hornby said.

"We didn't win a game this year and we still get bigger crowds than 90 per cent of clubs in the Group.

"Now it's up to us to give those people a team they can be proud of.

"We want to make the community proud of the Bears again."

Ben McKenna will be retained to coach the club's premier league team in 2020 while the club is closing in on securing a new first division mentor.

He said the last three seasons have been tough on the club's senior players, with a winless 2017 following by a two-win campaign in 2018 and then another winless, wooden spoon season this year.

The club hasn't won a first division game in over three years either.

But Hornby said the likes of Ricky Scott, Michael Toohey and Joey Hobby have shown enough to suggest they can, alongside some older heads, lead the club to more success in the future.

"I'll be honest, this year we were a mile away (from winning)," Hornby said.

"We were competitive in some games we just didn't have the cattle. But we'll go to market this year and hopefully we can get a few players to add to what we've got already."

Blayney's league tag and under 18s sides will contest minor semi-finals in Mudgee on Sunday.
