Cental West Police District Chief Inspector Scott Rayner said the burnt-out wreck of the 2012 Ford Ranger utility was discovered early on Tuesday morning.
He said the offender broke into an occupied house in Glenroi Avenue between 9pm and 4.50am on Monday night.

Chief Inspector Rayner said the car keys were stolen along with other items including a Playstation and a wallet containing cash.
The theft was reported to police at 6.30am on Tuesday and the vehicle was later found burnt out in bushland off Bloomfield Road.
"It was set on fire and completely destroyed. It wasn't on fire when it was discovered," he said.
Chief Inspector Rayner said there was evidence the car had been used for a burnout before it was destroyed.
He said police had taken the wreck away for investigation. It is not known whether it is linked to a spate of stolen car fires in Orange earlier this year.
