A draft water resource plan for Murray Darling Basin Fractured Rock areas has been placed on public exhibition with feedback collected at the information day.
NSW deputy secretary for Water Jim Bentley said the state government had spent two years developing draft water resource plans for areas including the Orange Basalt groundwater source area.
It covers 98,00 hectares and is centered around the Mount Canobolas volcanic rock area.
"It outlines how the groundwater resources of the Adelaide Fold Belt, Kanmantoo Fold Belt, Lachlan Fold Belt, New England Fold Belt, Inverell Basalt, Liverpool Ranges Basalt, Orange Basalt, Warrumbungle Basalt and Young Granite will be managed sustainably into the future," he said.
The meeting in Orange, plus two others in Yass and Gunnedah last week, also heard plans for the Murray Darling Basin's porous rock groundwater resource plan.
Public submissions on the water management plans close at 5pm on Friday August 30.
