Orange City librarian Sean Brady said Book Week is usually undertaken by schools and preschools but the library found success with its cubby house activity a couple of years ago.
Mr Brady said between 5.30pm and 7pm, children aged from six to 13 can go to the library and build a cubby out of boxes and blankets before the lights are turned out.
It's just trying to use the library space in different way and bring a bit of excitement.

"About 6pm for about half and hour we will turn the lights out and they can read with a grown up with a torch," Mr Brady said.
He said there might also be a torch parade and children can leave their teddy bear for a sleep over.
Participants are encouraged to bring a torch, a blanket and an adult to the library.
"It's just trying to use the library space in different way and bring a bit of excitement," Mr Brady said.
Mr Brady said children can read any children's book from the library's collection or bring their own from home.
He said some of the most popular children's books at the moment include books illustrated by Freya Blackwood and by authors including Aaron Blabey and Margaret Wild while magic and fantasy remain popular among older children.
